Independent clause
Simple sentence, can stand alone as a complete sentence.
Dependent clause
Not a complete thought, cannot stand alone as a complete sentence

A noun is a person, place, thing, or idea in a sentence
(Idea nouns are also referred to as abstract nouns)

Proper nouns name a particular person, place, or thing. These nouns begin with a capital letter.
Pronoun
A pronoun is a word that takes the place of one or more nouns.
Singular pronouns
Replace nouns that name one person, place, thing, or idea.

Replace nouns that name more than one person, place, thing, or idea.

An action verb is a part of speech that tells what the subject of a sentence is doing.
