- Each plant has one and four fans...most have single fan...plants serving under river tubes may have up to 4 fans - Fans located at BOTH ENDS of all under river tubes (exception Lenox-White plains tube) -EACH FAN PLANT has 4 digit ID number --ID NUMBER and LOCATIONS have been entered into CIDS - MOST transit system vent fans operate in EXHAUST MODE...small number operate in supply mode - vent fans in uNDER RIVER TUBES ARE REVERSIBLE.. ...OLDER TYPE FANS, direction of air flow can be changed by MOVING DAMPERS **fans NOT AFFECTED by power removal **

IN SMOKE CONDITION, the TRACK bed may be more comfortable for the passengers than the bench wall(AKA CATWALK ) since track bed may be below smoke level ..however both trackbed and bench wall are acceptable avenue of evacuation
