Q

How much of a success was the Rout of Ludford Bridge?

A

Date: October 1459
This was a big faliure for the Yorkists. In retaliation to the battle of Blore Heath, the Lancastrian army marched to Ludlow. The two sides met at Ludford Bridge. The Yorkists had failed to get enough support (they were outnumbered 3:1), and they also lost the support of the Calais men who Warwick had brought since they didn’t want to take arms against the King. The battle resulted in the flight of the Yorkists, with York and his second eldest son heading for Ireland, and Edward, Earl of March (York’s eldest son) going to Calais with the Nevilles.
