can be done on DU 14 (severe sore throat, head ache, toothache, pain in face)
wear gloves
no more than 1x/month
(7-star or lancet plus cups)
effect of cupping on skin:
w/draws stagnant old blood removes poisonous substance from skin surface eliminate CO2 through skin excrete water through skin accelerate secretion of salt and sebaceous mater increase skin temperature increase metabolism in skin rejuvenate skin make skin a stronger barrier
effect of cupping on muscles:
increase blood circulation
carry away waste products
promoted lymph flow
decrease muscle pain
effect of cupping cupping on the joints:
increase blood circulation
improve activity and secretion of synovial fluid
effect of cupping therapy on the digestive organs:
promote digestion and absorption
promote peristalsis
increase secretion of digestive enzyme
effect of cupping on the blood:
promotes blood flow
beneficial for hardened blood vessels
increases the number of WBC and RBCs
shifts blood PH to healthy alkaline
effect of cupping on the nervous system:
stimulates nerve endings
adjusts autonomic nervous system
Indications for cupping therapy:
muscle pain joint problems digestive problems respiratory problems skin problems (not on bad skin) hypertension (if too high (over 200/110) wait or send to ER) fatigue varicose veins
Contraindications for cupping
bleeders (hemophilia, leukemia) sunburn open wounds recent trauma pregnant women on lower back or abdomen (or at all) (miscarriage points: GB21, LI4, UB60/67, SP6) over large blood vessels on the throat severe edema 48 hours before or 24 hours after chemo Ren 8, UB 40 (behind knee), over eyes
color/reaction indications
pink =normal
darker = more severe blood stag is
=more acidic blood is
small re dots = acute
no discoloration=anemia, deficiency of related organ
dark purple =severe conditon
raised =deficient cold
not raised/no border =excessive heat
blisters= chronic condition
=chronic organ dysfunction/wekness
purple patches= stubborn chronic condition
pain= path condition, more= more severe
Seven star needling is good for:
clearing heat-esp top of head, above neck (Du14- then also maybe cup)
treating CNS and all internal organs (HT T5, LV T9)
numbness
treating wider area
stimulate skin superficially
less painful method than insertion needles (depends)
