Superficial Back Flashcards
(29 cards)
SB LO 1
muscles connecting the trunk to the upper extremity
latissimus dorsi, trapezius, levator scapulae, rhomboids (minor/major), serratus anterior
axial (skull, vertebral column, rib cage), appendic (shoulder/pector)
superficial back muscles (axial appendicular)
SB LO 3
compare and contrast extrinsic and intrinsic back muscles
differences: actions/purpose
- extrinsic muscles allow for limb movement (axioappendicular) and respiration (intermediate)
- intrinsic muscles allow for vertebral column movement and stabiliazation (superficial, intermediate, and deep)
similarities: each grouped by innervation in addition to “layer”
- extrinsic (superficial & intermediate): anterior (ventral) rami of spinal n
* intermediate add intercostal n
* exception is trapezius (cranial nerve)
-intrinsic: posterial (dorsal) rami spinal nerve
similarities: both have an intermediate level
extrinsic: axioappendicular & inter
intrinsic: superficial, inter, deep
SB LO 5
