  • The USA dropped atomic bombs on Japan. This gave them a huge military advantage
  • Roosevelt was prepared to work with stalin but he died in April 1945, Truman trusted stalin much less
  • Stalin disliked the way Truman had tried to push him around during Potsdam
  • This increased tensions.
