Surah 23: Al-Mu'minoon

Question 1

Certainly will the believers have succeeded

(23:1)

Answer 1

Qad aflahal mu’minoon

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ

Question 2

They who are during their prayer humbly intent

(23:2)

Answer 2

Allazeena hum fee Salaatihim khaashi’oon

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى صَلَاتِهِمْ خَـٰشِعُونَ

Question 3

And they who turn away from ill speech

(23:3)

Answer 3

Wallazeena hum ‘anillaghwimu’ridoon

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ ٱللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ

Question 4

And they who are observant of zakāh

(23:4)

Answer 4

Wallazeena hum liz Zakaati faa’iloon

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَـٰعِلُونَ

Question 5

And they who guard their private parts

(23:5)

Answer 5

Wallazeena hum lifuroo jihim haafizoon

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ

Question 6

Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed -

‘their right hands posseess’= Female slaves or captives under their owne

(23:6)

Answer 6

Illaa ‘alaaa azwaajihim aw maa malakat aimaanuhum fa innahum ghairu maloomeen

إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ

Question 7

But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors -

(23:7)

Answer 7

Famanib taghaa waraaa’a zaalika fa ulaaa’ika humul ‘aadoon

فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ

Question 8

And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive

(23:8)

Answer 8

Wallazeena hum li amaanaatihim wa ‘ahdihim raa’oon

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ

Question 9

And they who carefully maintain their prayers -

(23:9)

Answer 9

Wallazeena hum ‘alaa Salawaatihim yuhaafizoon

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَٰتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ

Question 10

Those are the inheritors

(23:10)

Answer 10

Ulaaa’ika humul waarisoon

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ

Question 11

Who will inherit alfirdauws. They will abide therein eternally.

(23:11)

Answer 11

Allazeena yarisoonal Firdawsa hum feehaa khaalidoon

ٱلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ ٱلْفِرْدَوْسَ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ

Question 12

And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay.

(23:12)

Answer 12

Wa laqad khalaqnal insaana min sulaalatim minteen

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن سُلَـٰلَةٍۢ مِّن طِينٍۢ

Question 13

Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging [i.e., the womb].

(23:13)

Answer 13

Summa ja’alnaahu nutfatan fee qaraarim makeen

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ نُطْفَةًۭ فِى قَرَارٍۢ مَّكِينٍۢ

Question 14

Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot

(23:14 -1)

Answer 14

Summa khalaqnan nutfata ‘alaqatan

ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا ٱلنُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةًۭ

Question 15

and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh]

(23:14-2)

Answer 15

fakhalaqnal ‘alaqata mudghatan

فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةًۭ

Question 16

and We made [from] the lump, bones

(23:14-3)

Answer 16

fakhalaq nal mudghata ‘izaaman

مُضْغَةًۭ فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْمُضْغَةَ عِظَـٰمًۭا

Question 17

and We covered the bones with flesh

(23:14-4)

Answer 17

fakasawnal ‘izaama lahman

فَكَسَوْنَا ٱلْعِظَـٰمَ لَحْمًۭا

Question 18

then We developed him into another creation

(23:14-5)

Answer 18

summa anshaanaahu khalqan aakhar

لَحْمًۭا ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُ خَلْقًا ءَاخَرَ ۚ

Question 19

So blessed is Allāh, the best of creators.

(23:14-6)

Answer 19

fatabaarakal laahu ahsanul khaaliqeen

فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ

Question 20

Then indeed, after that you are to die

(23:15)

Answer 20

Summa innakum ba’da zaalika la maiyitoon

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ

Question 21

Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected.

(23:16)

Answer 21

Summa innakum Yawmal Qiyaamati tub’asoon

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ تُبْعَثُونَ

Question 22

And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware.

(23:17)

Answer 22

Wa laqad khalaqnaa fawqakum sab’a taraaa’iqa wa maa kunnaa ‘anil khalqi ghaafileen

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعَ طَرَآئِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ ٱلْخَلْقِ غَـٰفِلِينَ

Question 23

And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away.

(23:18)

Answer 23

Wa anzalnaa minas samaaa’i maaa’am biqadarin fa-askannaahu fil ardi wa innaa ‘alaa zahaabim bihee laqaa diroon

وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۢ بِقَدَرٍۢ فَأَسْكَنَّـٰهُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابٍۭ بِهِۦ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ

Question 24

And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat.

(23:19)

Answer 24

Fa anshaanaa lakum bihee Jannaatim min nakheelinw wa a’naab; lakum feehaa fawaakihu kaseeratunw wa minhaa taakuloon

فَأَنشَأْنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٍۢ مِّن نَّخِيلٍۢ وَأَعْنَـٰبٍۢ لَّكُمْ فِيهَا فَوَٰكِهُ كَثِيرَةٌۭ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ

Question 25

And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food [i.e., olives] for those who eat. ## Footnote (23:20)

Answer 25

Wa shajaratan takhruju min Toori Sainaaa'a tambutu bidduhni wa sibghil lil aakileen وَشَجَرَةًۭ تَخْرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيْنَآءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِٱلدُّهْنِ وَصِبْغٍۢ لِّلْـَٔاكِلِينَ

Question 26

And indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat. ## Footnote (23:21)

Answer 26

Wa inna lakum fil an'aami la'ibrah; nusqeekum mimmaa fee butoonihaa wa lakum feehaa manaafi'u kaseeratunw wa minhaa taakuloon وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ لَعِبْرَةًۭ ۖ نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِى بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ كَثِيرَةٌۭ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ

Question 27

And upon them and on ships you are carried. ## Footnote (23:22)

Answer 27

Wa 'alaihaa wa'alal fulki tuhmaloon وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ
