Q

Why was the ruling of making a will and provisions for a year for the wife obligatory?

A

It was made at the time when the share of a wife and inheritance of a husband was not determined or the period of iddah
later it was revealed the iddah was 4 months and 10 days, and her fixed share was revealed in Surah Nisa, therefore such a ruling is no more applicable
