A

Medicare is Australia’s universal health care system with ALL Australian residence have access regeardless of SES, age, gender etc. THEREFORE proving accessible and affordable basic HC for ALL

How is EQUITY reflected in Medicare

A

Because as the Medicare Levy is means tested, those who earn higher incomes contribute more whereas low-income earners may be exempt from this tax THEREFORE removing disadvantage for low income earners –> allowing them to access HC and close the gap between the difference in SES

A

-only subsidises essential prescription medicines approved bt PBAC which is strictly regulated SO not wasting funds on ineffective medications THEREFORE funds/resources are available for current generations and will continue to be available for future generations medications needs as well

A

-provides any eligible individual funding to access e.g assistive technology such as wheelchair THEREFORE accessible regardless of factors such as geographic location/SES

A
