Advantages: ties knots securely

Interrupted Suture Pattern
Each stitch has a knot
Advantages: If one suture breaks, the rest will stay in tact, bacteria cannot travel up line
Disadvantages: Uses more suture material, time consuming
Examples: Simple Interrupted, Horizontal/Vertical Mattress, Cruciate
