When and what were NEDDY and NICKY?

NEDDY or NEDC the national economic development council was used to try and incorporate long term planning in the economy. 1961.
NICKY or NIC the national incomes commission was to keep an eye on wages and prices. 1962.
What was the Beaching Report 1963?
Recommend massive cuts in Britain’s rail network including closure of 30% of the rail network leading to outrage. Hundreds of branch lines and thousands of stations were axed leaving many isolated. Shows the govt were no longer surfing an era of prosperity and economic success.
What did Chancellor Maulding who replaced Selwyn Lloyd as chancellor in 1963 do?
Initiated a “go” phase to the economy by lowering the bank rate to encourage consumer spending. Growth rates went from 4% to 6% from 1963 to 1964. However whilst export rates grew over 10% over 1961 to 1964 period, imports remained 20% higher.
When was the NEB set up and by who?
1974 By Tony Benn to give give financial aid to failing companies. Its effectiveness was being questioned by 1975 with the governments decision to nationalise British Leyland and was not limiting wage demands.

introduced 1991 it allowed people to have more power over the quality of services they should expect from public services by providing information about what they should expect.
