1. Propranolol
2. atenolol
3. metoprolol- common

Decrease workload of heart, angnia, dysrhythmias

  • may be (beta 1 & 2) or cardioselective (Beta 1)

Beta Blocker ADRs

A

Beta 1 - Blockage on heart and May mask symptoms of hypoglymecia (cautious with diabetic pts)

Beta 2- Blockage of lungs and May lead to hypoglycemia due to inhibition of glycogenolysis in times of stress

Beta 2 blockers be cautious with asthmatic patients because can make symptoms worse and interfere with rescue inhaler
