16
Q

what can cause pleural effusion?

A

leaking from other organs e.g. congestive heart failure
cancer
infections
autoimmune conditions

17
Q

what is a pneumothorax?

A

when air leaks into the space between your lung and chest wall. This air pushes on the outside of your lung and makes it collapse.

18
Q

what can cause a pneumothorax?

A

a blunt or penetrating chest injury, certain medical procedures, or damage from underlying lung disease

19
Q

what are the symptoms of a pneumothorax?

A

sudden, intense chest pain

shortness of breath

20
Q

what is pulmonary fibrosis?

A

when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred - you become progrssively short of breath as lungs cant expand properly
