Q

What is the theory of development of syringomyelia?

A

Obstruction of CSF flow at the foramen magnum results in aberrations of CSF flow dynamics –> repetetive distention of spinal cord and formation of syrinxes (fluid filled cavities) within the parenchyma of the spinal chord.
