16
Q

How is fuel supplied to the cylinders?

A

High pressure directly into the combustion chambers

17
Q

How many fuel injection nozzles are supplied by the common rail?

A

One per cylinder

18
Q

How do you get fuel from the AUX tank to the MAIN tank?

A

Through the use of the transfer pump or the emergency position on the fuel valve.

19
Q

Why isn’t the radiator circuit open at all times?

A

To allow for the engine to warm up quickly

20
Q

What temperature does the thermostatic valve activate the radiator circuit?

A

80* C

21
Q

What is the cabin heat exchanger?

A

A circuit that provides warm air for the cabin

22
Q

What type of oil system does the engine have?

A

Wet sump

23
Q

Voltage of electrical system

A

28 Volt DC System

24
Q

How is power provided to the electrical system?

A

70 ampere alternator (mounted on the bottom left side of the engine).

25
Q

How is the alternator driven?

A

Flat-belt driven

26
Q

What happens in the event of a main battery failure?

A

The field of the alternator is energized by two 12V 7.2 Ah sealed-lead-acid batteries (ECU backup batteries)

27
Q

Main battery specs

A

24V 13.6 Ah lead-acid battery

28
Q

What would happen in the event of an alternator failure?

A

The main batter would supply power to the power to the ECU’s. In the event that the main battery runs out of power, the backup ECU batteries will supply power to ECU B.

29
Q

What does the Emergency battery supply power to when activated?

A

Standby Attitude Indicator and the flood light.

30
Q

How long does the emergency battery last?

A

1 hour

31
Q

When does the emergency battery need to be replaced?

A

Every 2 years or once the seal is broken on the switch.

32
Q

What is the thermal switch on the Pitot probe?

A

Keeps the temperature constant on the pitot probe

33
Q

What does the thermal fuse on the pitot probe do?

A

It’s a safety mechanism that switches the pitot heat off in the event that it gets too hot.
