Respite Programs
here are three types of Respite Services available to Care Partners:
In-Home Supports
Short-Term Respite
Adult Day Programs
These supports might include personal support, professional support (such as nursing care, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy), or homemaking.
In-Home Supports
Short-Term Respite
Available for respite, convalescence, and interim care
May access up to 90 days/year, and stay up to 60 days/admission
The person must be eligible for long-term care: at least 18, valid Ontario Health Card, have health care needs that cannot be met in community and can be met in long-term care
The caregiver must be eligible for respite: need to be away for more than one day (i.e. going on booked vacation), need to be in hospital and/or has health issues
Cost is for room/board
Adult Day Programs
Partial or full day programming in a community setting
Designed for specific populations: people living with a brain injury, people living with Dementia, people living with physical disabilities
Offer recreational/social activities, meals, personal care, and basic health services
Must be over the age of 18, with a valid Health Card, requiring support due to some chronic condition, and where a social group would be beneficial
offers programs and services to support people with dementia and/or memory concerns, and their formal and informal care partners.

Offer education, advocacy, research and support to people who are living with Parkinson’s and their care partners
Parkinsons Society
specializes in supporting people who have an Acquired Brain Injury.
Dale Brain Injury
This program offers services regarding palliative pain and symptom managements and end-of-life care.
