What is the grade based on?
Intensity
What is an innocent murmur and what should be done?
A 6-8 month large breed pup
Low intensity with no symptoms
Usually grown out of by 4-5 months
What is the description of a Grade 1 murmur?
Very soft murmur heard only after careful auscultation
What is the description of a Grade 2 murmur?
Readily heard soft murmur localised over 1 area
What is the description of a Grade 3 murmur?
Readily heard moderately intense murmur radiating to another valve area
What is the description of a Grade 4 murmur?
Loud murmur without a precordial thrill, usually radiates to both sides of the chest
What is the description of a Grade 5 murmur?
Loud murmur with a precordial thrill
What is the description of a Grade 6 murmur?
Loud murmur with a precordial thrill and audible with the stethoscope off the chest wall
