Dimensions

A

Qualitative Data, is a part or way of considering something. qulatitive, descriptive and qualatitive. Cn be number talks about the qualities of something. it is a blue pill

Measures

A

Quantitative Data, can be an amount or degree. it is where a calculation can be made ( sum, average, add, subtract) Green Pills (Axis) 200 500, 1, 34,5 it is quantitive, numeric typically aggregated.

Q

Dimensions and Measures

A

what the data is, what the data represents. it is the meaning of that data.

17
Q

What are dimensions

A

Describes or catergorizs data
tells you what wen or who
Slices the quantities data

18
Q

Quantative field measures

A

Numerical data
Provides the measurement for a qualatitive category
Can be used in calculations

19
Q

Dimensions and measures are the building block of Tableau charts

20
Q

When tableau connects to a data set it assigned the fields to either dimensions or measures

21
Q

The qualitative fields that describe categories of data are in the top part of the pane under dimensioms

22
Q

The qualative fields that measure categories of data are in the bottom part of the pane under measures

In the top or columns it creates a long bar and an axis showing a range of values

23
Q

Thequantative fielding green tells us how many

24
Q

Weneedto bring in the qualitative fields in to better understand our data. If we add the dimension animal category we can see birds make up most of the wildfire strikes the single bar breaks into four one for each category. Dimension fields display in blue when brought into the sheet

25
Take animal category and put it in filters Add animal species dimension field to look more closely at the data. To see more about birds we filter to the view to show only birds
26
We can add another measure field cost total dollar to see what species of birds result in the most accodents
27
Dimensions are aggregations it is set to the aggregation in the view
