Tachy/bradycardias Flashcards
(13 cards)
Pulseless VT AKA…
Cardiac arrest
In what circumstances is adenosine contradicted?
Asthmatics
What is sick sinus syndrome?
Dysfunction of the SA node
Leads to periods of bradycardia + arrest + tachycardia
What drug is commonly associated with causing bradycardias?
Digoxin
How would you manage a patient with unstable tachycardia?
DDCV -> amiodarone
How would you manage AF?
Acute
- > BB/CCB (as rate control)
- > digoxin (as rate control if heart failure)
- > amiodarone (as rhythm control)
- > A/C
What score is used to establish if you need to A/C a patient?
Until this assessment is carried out what is the drug of choice? What does it change to after that point?
CHAD2DS2VASC
Heparin -> warfarin/ oral A/C e.g. rivoraxaban
What drug is given in bradycardia?
Atropine
What is the management for a patient with stable SVT?
Vagal manoeuvres -> adenosine
How are patients with WPW syndrome treated?
Medical = Amiodarone Surgical = radio-ablation of additional pathway
What kind of stroke is most associated with AF?
Embolic
Describe the differences between VT and VF:
HR
ECG
Treatment
VF
- completly random broad tachycardia
- looks crazy on ECG
- DCCV
VT
- > 100bpm broad tachycardia
- more regular broad tachycardia on ECG
- if stable give amodarone -> no response DCCV
Amiodarone MoA?
Potassium channel antagonist
