Q

awareness of team strategies, defensive strategies man to man marking

A

Players in a football team transition from attacking and defending. This means that each player must have good knowledge of team strategies such as man to man marking as when the opposition has the ball, man to man marking can help make it more difficult for the opposition to attack as they will struggle to perform set plays due to the constant pressure

Q

overall effect on performance, man to man marking

A

This tactic was a strength as my player adopted a good defending positioning on the pitch. This was evident early on when the opposition was in possession of the ball and was attacking, my player identified a likely pass option and stood goal side of the opposition about an arms length away communicating to the rest of their team of when to press showing good confidence and control in defensive situations this had an overall effect on performance as it limited opportunities for the opposition allowing for their team to win the ball on numerous occasions

Q

man to man marking theory

A

I believe the performer I observed is an extrovert as they were very vocal and interactive with their teammates organising both attacking and defensive positions on who to mark and when to press. Extroverts seek social situations and enjoy interaction and it was clear that these situations brought out their personality as they was communicating positional play.

Q

understanding of where to dribble

A

when players are dribbling typically wingers or strikers they utilise the space on the pitch keeping their head up to assess the best option of where to dribble to allow them to advance up the pitch. Knowing where to dribble allows them to be more likely to keep possession making it harder for the defenders to defend against them.

Q

Awareness of strengths and weaknesses of other players

A

Players often have strengths and weaknesses, knowing oppositions weaknesses allows you to manipulate their weakness to your advantage such as if the player doesnt have as good explosive strength as you, then you know you can outmuscle them , or if the performer doesnt have a good first touch then you can apply pressure to make them panic allowing you to steal or intercept the ball

Q

overall effect on performance awareness of weaknesses of other players

A

This was a weakness for the performer as they didnt notice that a player they frequently marked in the clip had a poor first touch. This had an overall effect on performance as it meant that, when the oppositon the performer didnt apply as much pressure as they couldve to make them panic allowing them time to react to their poor touch, clearly showing that the performer i observed didnt realise that this was a weakness for them

Q

theory for awareness of weaknesses of other players

A

The performer i watched seemed to have high levels of competitive anxiety as they seemed to worry during competitive situations as they didnt remain calm which prevented them from identifying the oppositions weaknesses.
