Abrasion
Changes the shape of the cross section
Bowed
Bend under excessive pressure
Buckled
Bend and give way under pressure
Burn
Caused by fire or heat, usually the result of a lightning strike
Crack
A partial fracture or complete break in the material
Corrosion
A chemical procedure that gradually makes a metal weak
Crazed
A network of fine cracks on the surface of a material
Delamination
Separation of layers
Dent
A damaged area which is pushed in relative with respect to its parent contour, the area edges are smooth
Gouge
A damaged area in a cross sectional area change. It is usually caused by contact with a relatively sharp object which causes a continuous, sharp or smooth channel like groove in the material.
Nick
A small decrease of material because of a knock, usually at the edge of a member or skin
Scratch
Damage caused by a very sharp object, causing a narrow line of indentation of any length
Split
Break apart, usually in a straight line
