Why are pipettes used in chemistry?
A pipette is used to accurately measure and transfer a fixed volume of liquid, especially in titrations.
Why are burettes used in chemistry?
A burette is used to accurately and precisely deliver variable volumes of a liquid, especially in titrations.
How do you prepare a standard solution?
‘We Don’t Rush The Titration Inaccurately’
W – Weigh the solute accurately.
D – Dissolve it in a small amount of distilled water.
R – Rinse the beaker and stirrer into the volumetric flask.
T – Transfer solution to a volumetric flask.
T – Top up to the mark with distilled water (bottom of meniscus).
I – Invert the flask to mix thoroughly.
What are the two methods of collecting a gas?
Under water - for insoluble gases, using a gas syringe.
How does distillation work?
Distillation is a method used to separate liquids based on their boiling points.
