Anterior Lumbar (AL1-5)

A
L1- medial to ASIS
L2- medial to AIIS
L3- lateral to AIIS
L4- inferior to AIIS
L5- anterior aspect of pubic symphysis

Patient Position: Supine
Initial Position: Hips and knees in flexion, rotation and sidebending of pelvis as needed
Involved muscles: internal obique, external oblique, rectus abdominis, iliacus

Posterior Lumbar (PL1-5)

A

Location: Spinous processes centrally (may be slightly to the side of the spinous process) and posterior transverse process
Patient Position: prone
Initial Position: extension, rotation and sidebending away
Involved Muscles: multifidus, quad lumborum

Anterior Cervical

A

Location: C1- posterior edge of ascending ramus of mandible
C2-6- anterior aspect of transverse processes anterior aspect of transverse
C7 2-3 cm lateral to claviular head on superior aspect of clavicle
C8- medial aspect of clavicular head

Patient Position: supine
Initial position: flexion, rotation away, sidebending towards
Involved muscles: rectus capitis anterior (AC1), Longus colli and capitis (AC2-6), Scalenes (AC2-7), Sternocleidomastoid (AC7-8)

Lateral Cervical

A

Location: C1- lateral aspect of lateral masses
C2-C7: lateral aspect of transverse processes
Patient Position: supine
Intial position: sidebending towards, slight rotation away, minor flexion or extension as needed.
Involved muscles: rectus capitis lateralis (LC1), scalenes (LC2-7), levator scapulae (LC2-4), intertransversarii (LC1-7)
