Congress
The national legislative body of a country
Executive Branch
Branch of government known for supporting, implementing, and enforcing laws.
Legislative Branch
Branch of government known for writing, debating, and passing laws.
Judicial Branch
Branch of government that includes criminal and civil courts and helps interpret the U.S. constitution.
President
The head of a group of any kind.
Vice-President
Official who ranks right under president.

The official count or survey of a population.
Supreme Court
The highest judicial court in a country or state.
House of Representatives
The lowest house of the U.S. congress. It has 435 elected officials and is the most representative body in the federal government.
Senate
Any of the various legislative or governing bodies.
Liberalism
Worldview founded on the idea of freedom and equality.
Conservatism
belief in the value of established and traditional practices in politics and society or dislike of change or new ideas in a particular area.
Checks and balances
Limit imposed on the branches of government to ensure one branch doesn’t have too much power.
Democracy
an organization or situation in which everyone is treated equally and has equal rights.
ex. voting for a new leader
Politics
Activities associated with the government of a given area.
Republican
Supporter of Republic party.
Democrat
Supporter of democracy.
Election
A formal of of electing somebody for something
Voting rights
Rights that allow people to vote regardless of race, gender, or religion.
Electoral College
A body of people chosen or appointed by a larger group.
Constitution
Fundamental principles that are acknowledge to be govern.
Constitutional
Relating to the constitution.
Veto
The right to reject a proposal made by a law-making body.
