Specialises in reproductive female health
What does a gynaecologist do?
- perform Pap tests to test for cervical cancer
-test and treat UTI’s
-diagnose and treat reproductive system disorders e.g endometriosis

- some rebates from Medicare are avaliable
PBS gynaecologist
-can Rx medication such as contraceptive pill
PHI gynaecologist
-(depends on cover) can provide further rebate on top of medicare
What is an obstetrician
-provide specialised Medicare care during pregnancy and after birth
- have skills to manage high risk pregnancies
