1) Air distance and weight is acting on the person which causes him to accelerate
2) Then the weight stays the same however larger air resistance which means he is accelerating but less
3) Then the forces balance out reaching a steady speed or terminal velocity.
4) Then when the parachute opens there is large amount of air resistance so therefore he/she slows down
5) Finally the forces become balance and becomes much slower reaching a new terminal velocity but slower.
