Homeostasis
process through which the body maintains a constant internal environment
The urinary tract consists of?
2 kidneys, two ureters, one bladder, one urethra
Renal cortex
outer region of the kidney
Medulla
inner region of the kidney

microscopic functional units of each kidney, this is where urine is produced

funnel shaped area inside each kidney that is surrounded by the renal cortex and medulla

external opening of the urethra

inability of one or both kidneys to perform their functions.
Azotemia
elevation of the blood urea nitrogen caused by a lack of blood flow to each kidney
Uremia
toxic condition resulting from renal failure in which kidney function is compromised
Nephrotic syndrome
group of conditions in which excessive amounts of protein are lost through the urine
Edema
excessive fluid accumulation in body tissues
Hyperprotienuria
abnormally high concentrations of protein in the urine
Hypoprotienemia
abnormally low concentrations of protein in the blood
Hydronephrosis
swelling of one or both kidneys
Nephritis
inflammation of kidney or kidneys
Glomerulonephritis
type of nephritis caused by inflammation of the glomeruli
Nephroptosis aka floating kidney
is the prolapse, or dropping down of a kidney into the pelvic area when pt stands
