Limited-Term Driver License
a driver license that is issued to someone who can prove legal presence in the United States but is not a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Legal Permanent Resident Alien.
Limited-Term CDL
a commercial driver license that is granted to someone who can prove legal presence in the United States but is not a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Legal Permanent Resident Alien.
License Certificate
a document that proves you have the privilege to drive in Utah.
Lane
a marked division of a road for use by a single line of vehicles.
Highway
any public roadway that can be legally used by vehicles.
Head Checks
looking over your shoulder in the direction you want to move to check your blind spot.
Farm Tractor
a vehicle designed and used mainly as a farm implement for husbandry.
Entry-Level Learner Permit
a permit that allows someone to practice driving while they are learning to drive, provided they are accompanied by a licensed driver over 21 years of age who meets specific criteria.
Endorsement
a designation on a Utah driver’s license that grants additional driving privileges for certain vehicles or types of cargo.
Driving Privilege Card
a document that demonstrates someone’s privilege to drive in Utah without requiring proof of legal presence in the United States.
Defensive Driving
driving in a way that anticipates and avoids possible crashes or mistakes other drivers might make.
Class D License
a license that allows someone to drive any personal vehicle weighing less than 26,000 pounds.
Reckless Driving
committing two moving violations in a single continuous period of driving or committing one moving violation while being distracted by an activity not related to driving.
Cancellation
termination of a driver’s license because it was issued due to a mistake or fraud, because the holder applied for a different state-issued driver license or ID card, or because required consent has been withdrawn.
Blind Spots
areas of the roadway that a driver cannot see using their mirrors.
Bicycle
a human-powered vehicle with two wheels of at least 14 inches in diameter, a seat or saddle, and pedals or cranks. Electric-assisted bicycles are included in this definition.
