List the 12 organ systems.
Integumentary, Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous, Endocrine, Circulatory, Lymphatic, Immune, Respiratory, Digestive, Urinary, Reproductive.
Which part of the body is the dorsal and ventral parts of the body?
Dorsal is the back and ventral is the front.
List the 5 cavities in the body.
Cranial, Spinal, Thoracic, Abdominal and Pelvic.
What does the cranial cavity contain?
The brain
What does the Spinal cavity contain?
The Spinal cord
What does the thoracic cavity contain?
Heart, lungs, oesophagus, thymus gland, large blood/lymph vessels.
What is the section between the lungs called?
Mediastinum
What splits the thoracic and abdominal cavities?
The diaphragm
What does the abdominal cavity contain?
stomach, liver and intestines
What does the pelvic cavity contain?
The reproductive organs, bladder and rectum
What are the 4 quadrants of the body?
Right upper, right lower, left upper and left lower
What are the 9 sections of the body?
Right Hypochondriac, Epigastric, Left Hypochondriac, Right Lumbar, Umbilical, Left Lumbar, Right illiac, Hypogastric and Left illiac
What is the double layer membrane that the ventral body cavity is covered with?
Serous membrane (serosa) which has fluid between them.
What is the Parietal serosa?
The membrane fused to the body cavity wall
What is the visceral serosa?
The membrane fused to the organs
What is the lung serosa called?
Pluera
What is the heart serosa called?
Pericardium
What is the axial body and the appendicular body?
Axial is the head, neck and trunk whilst appendicular is the arms and legs.
What are the 3 body plans?
Frontal splits into front and back, median cuts through spine and transverse is the equator.
Difference between superior and inferior?
Above is superior and below is inferior
What is the difference between Medial and Lateral?
Medial is towards midline and lateral is away from midline
What is the difference between proximal and distal?
Proximal is towards core and Distal is away from core
