Q
What terminology is used to describe operations and how is it structured?
A
- The terminology used to describe all operations is a composite of basic
Latin or Greek terms - First, describe the organ/ area to be operated on (e.g. lapar, nephro)
- Second, describe any other parts involved (e.g. docho)
- Third, describe what is to be done (e.g. otomy, ectomy)
- Lastly, add any terms to qualify how or where the procedure is done (e.g. percutaneous, trans)
