Test 1 - Module 3 Flashcards
(13 cards)
What do we look at in cell morphology?
- Size
- Shape
- Color
Anisocytosis
Regeration (IMHA, parasites, blood loss)
Microcytic
Non-Regenerative (iron deficiencies)
Macrocytic
Regeneration (IMHA, parasites, blood loss)
Polychromasia
Regeneration
Hypochromasia
Non-regenerative anemia, iron deficiency, kidney disease, hasn’t had a chance to become regenerative
Heinz Bodies
Oxidative Injury (Cats - Tylenol, Propofol; Dogs - Onions)
Spherocytes
IMHA, very severe anemia (not present in moderate anemia, only severe)
Acanthocytes
Liver disease, DIC, hemangiosarcoma
Ecchinocytes
Snake bites, renal disease
Crenation
Human caused
Schistocytes
DIC, hemangiosarcoma (if true, will always see w/ acanthocytes)
What are the 4 signs of regeneration?
- Anisocytosis
- Polychromasia
- Howell-Jolly Bodies
- NRBCs
