Test 4 Flashcards
Elbow & Wrist (24 cards)
What are the joints in the elbow?
- humeroulnar
- humeroradial
What makes up the humero-ulnar?
trochlea of humerus and trochlear notch of ulna
What makes up the humeroradial?
capitulum of humerus and head of radius
What is the degree of flexion?
145
What is the degrees of extension?
0
What is the functional range of motion?
30-130
What is a carrying angle?
vagus angle formed by the longitudinal axis of humerus and forearm
What is the articular capsule?
capsule enclosed the humeroradial joint, humero-ulnar and the proximal radioulnar joint
What is an annular ligament?
around the radial head (pulled elbow syndrome)
Interosseous membrane function?
- add strength to ulna and radius
- keep 2 bones from separating
- adds more surface area for attachment of muscles
How does the proximal radioulnar joint move?
involves the radial head which pivots within the radial notch of ulna
What is the distal radioulnar joint?
involves the ulnar notch of radius and the ulna head
What is the degree of supination?
90
What is the degree of pronation?
80
What is lateral epicondylitis?
tennis elbow
What is medial epicondylitis?
golfer’s elbow
What are the joints of the wrist?
- radiocarpal joint
- midcarpal joint
- intercarpal joint
Where is the articular disk located?
between ulna and proximal row of carpals
What is the radiocarpal joint?
consists of distal end of radius and the radioulnar disk proximally and the scaphoid, lunate and triquetrum
What is closed pack position?
extension tension within palmar radiocarpal log and all muscles that cross on the palmar side of the wrist causes stability to occur
Ex: push up, crawling
What are extrinsic ligaments?
have their proximal attachment outside the carpal bones but attach distally to the carpal bonesW
What are intrinsic ligaments?
have both their proximal and distal attachment on carpal bones
What is the transverse carpal ligament?
causes an arch over the carpals and making the carpal tunnel for median nerve and tendons
What is palmar fascia/palmar aponeurosis?
covers tendon and provides protection
