Test Kit Flashcards
(28 cards)
Ccfd
Combined contamination detection kit
What does the ccfd do ?
Determines amount of solid contamination in aviation fuel
Ccfd
How is it measured ?
Using principle of light transmission through a .65 membrane filter (microne filter)
How many filters are there in the ccfd ? And what are they?
2, and the
1st one is used to trap solids and color effect
2nd one is used to only trap fuel color effect
What is fwd ?
Free water detector
What does the fwd determine ?
Determines amount of free water in aviation fuel
Fwd
How is it measured ?
It’s measured by the reaction of un-dissolved water and sodium fluorescents , produces yellow-green fluorescent light under uv light
Fwd standard is ?
0,5,10, and 20
How many filter pads in the fwd?
One filter pad only
Components of ccfd
- control panel
- 32oz sample bottle
- filter holder assembly
- photocell
- filter slide
- lcd multimeter
- tygon drain tube
- drain cock
- polytheric 16oz bottle
- potentiometer knob
Control panel for ccfd
Has four switches
Vacuum pump
LCD multimeter screen
Ultra violet light
32 oz sample bottle
Holds 800ml for ccfd (COMBINED 8 letters)
Holds 500ml for fwd (WATER 5 letters)
Filter holder assembly
Holds 2 mili pads , Used with a 32oz bottle Consists of : filter base Stopper Bottle receiver
Photocell
Holds the light transmission system
Filter slide
Holds the filter in place
LCD millimeter
Measures the decrease in light transmission, digital display with 3-digit reading
Tygon drain tube
Insterted before test
Allows pre filtered fuel to drain
Drain cock
Point where fuel leaves fuel flask
The handle has “open” and “closed”
Polyethylene 16oz bottle
Used to wet the .65 filter
Potentiometer knob
Adjusts millimeter reading
How often do you check the cfd?
Every 3 months or if any part is replaced
What do each calibration curve represent ?
Each one shows difference in millimeter readings and contamination in fuel
When calibrating what should the potentiometer be adjusted to ?
To a steady reading of 600mg
No more than 2 mg/l is pass more is fail
No fuel needed to calibrate
