How far back are activity records saved?
Activity filters go back 1 year, except for Subscriptions and Bouncebacks which go back 10 years
When will a list change?
Lists are static and will not change unless a process modifies them
What is the difference between soft and hard bounces?
A Hard bounce means the email is invalid and will never deliver. A Soft bounce is a good address that wasn’t delivered, like if the inbox was full.
What are the 3 types of filters?
Contact Field, Activity, Inactivity
What are 3 types of filter exclusions?
System Exclude, Master Exclude, Segment Exclude
What is a system exclude?
Unsubs, Hard Bounces, Spam. Implemented by creating Email Groups and managed automatically by the system.
Will still send auto responder emails
What is a Master Exclude?
Contacts we never want to email, like competitors. Managed by Admin who identifies contacts and adds them in the Master Exclude Area.
Will not receive auto responder emails
What is a Segment Exclude?
Contacts excluded for specific campaigns, like employees. Managed by Eloqua users and implemented by adding an asset and setting it to be excluded from a segment.
What is a Signature Rule?
It allows set up of automated rules for how different signatures are applied in emails based on criteria set
What criteria can the Email Group determine?
Default header/footer, control unsubs, use for reporting, help opt-outs customize their feed.
If the email images are blocked, will it track the open?
No
Why should you customize the footer and header?
Headers help direct to a browser option when images are blocked. Footers provide additional links and compliance through opt-out links.
What are the two methods to track email click-throughs?
Direct and Redirect

If you use ‘Email a Contact’ to test an email, can you send more than one?
Yes

Reporting under QuickSend, One-off, Can re-send. Overwrites System fields.

What is different about the Form Processing email method?
Does not follow System Exclude list. Does not work with Signature Layout.
Auto-responder and confirmation emails.
How are External Forms different from Eloqua-hosted Internal Forms?
They include only the processing side inside Eloqua. They are created and hosted outside of Eloqua. They require HTML. They need integration script to pass data to Eloqua.
What are the 3 options to add form fields to an Eloqua form?
- Choose any contact field created in Eloqua - 300+
- Create a new Form Element by selecting a new field type. (10 different types)
- Use Field Groups that are preconfigured or create your own. Field Group ex. Address, Date. A set of fields that combine for a data field.
