reacter
When a vector is formed by a gaze (someone looking at something in a picture), the person who is looking.
phenomenon
The landscape, visual proposition or participant that is being looked at.
vectors
the lines formed by the composition of a picture, representing action or potential action. The gaze is a significant vector.
direct address
occurs when a participant in an image (a “reacter”) looks directly at the viewer, creating a vector that bridges the fictional space of the image and the viewer’s reality. This technique demands engagement, often evoking intimacy, judgment, or desire.
