Thales Manual Flashcards
(24 cards)
How long is the power up self test in the Integrated Avionics Displays (IADs) on ground and in the air?
The power-up self test duration will be shortened from a maximum of 45 seconds to a maximum of 10 seconds if the display detects a weight off wheels condition.
What monitors the Cursor Control Devices CCDs for failure?
The CCDs are monitored for failure by the IADs & VMMs. Upon detection of a CCD failure, a “CCD 1 Fail” or “CCD 2 Fail” caution message will be posted to the caution advisory field of the MFDs. No caution message will be posted if the VMM has failed.
How can the maintenance mode on the MFD be viewed?
The CCD is utilized to enter an avionics diagnostics mode. This mode is available only when then engines.
are off and the helicopter is on the ground.
If the select button is held for greater than 5 seconds all IADs will reboot and the onside MFD will enter maintenance mode.
Exiting maintenance mode is performed with the similar 5 second select button hold.
Is the PFD Control panel (PCP) single or dual powered?
Each PCP is powered by a single power input.
How long does it take the IESI to align?
Upon unit power-up the IESI will perform a system test and alignment.
The system maintenance screen is
displayed for approximately 5 seconds when aircraft is on ground.
Alignment takes approximately 80 seconds
after which operational mode is activated.
At what nose up or nose down attitude will the Chevron symbols appear on the IESI
Chevron symbols pointing towards the horizon
will become visible at 45° nose up or down attitude.
For how long will the VMM hold current time and date data without power?
Current time and date data will be retained in the VMM for 30 days without power.
After 30 days powered off, the VMM will reinitialize time and date from the FMS (GPS).
At what temperature will the VMM 1 (or 2) HOT caution message be activated?
If VMM internal temperature exceeds 70°C, the “VMM 1 HOT” or “VMM 2 HOT” caution message will be activated.
Where are the Flight Control Modules (FCM) located?
The FCMs are mounted in the same modular equipment rack as the VMMs in the aircraft’s avionics compartment
How long does it take the AHRS to align?
Upon power up, the AHRS enters a startup alignment mode.
On ground, with a still aircraft, alignment will occur
in less than 20 seconds.
In flight alignment occurs in less than two minutes for power down period in excess of 0.5 seconds.
At what picth attitudes will the red chevrons appear on the EADI?
Red chevrons are overlaid on the pitch scale at 45 and 65 degrees to aid in unusual attitude recovery.
What is the range on the Altitude scale?
The scale ranges from -1000ft to +25000, with tick marks every 100ft. Longer tick marks and value labels are displayed every 500ft.
For negative values, the hashed box at tens-thousands digit will be replaced with a bold “N” inside a green box
When will the readout box be displayed on the VSI?
A box displaying the current vertical speed will appear in the center of the tape when the rate exceeds + or – 250fpm for more than 5 seconds.
The digital readout box will be removed when the rate returns below + or – 220fpm.
What is the range on the VSI scale?
The vertical speed tape includes an
analog tape with a range of +/- 3000fpm.
Below 1000fpm graduations are provided every
200fpm.
Above 1000fpm they are every 500fpm.
What can cause the digital readout on the radalt display to change from green to amber?
The digits are displayed in green unless the current value is less than the decision height setting in which case they are amber.
What is the maximum altitude that can be displayed on the radalt?
The radalt value indication will be presented as long as the data from the radar altimeter is valid, and below 5000ft.
When operating very near 5000ft AGL, the radalt tape may be displayed intermittently in a rapid manner as the radalt height crosses the 5000ft value.
What will cause the “altitude” aural alert to be be generated?
When the helicopter reaches the radalt bug setting set on the PFD
For how long will the green box around the active mode of the FMA flash if a mode selection is made?
5 Seconds
What is the maximum range of the numeric readouts on the Np / Nr display?
The maximum range of the numeric readout is 150% and 120% for the tapes.
in what mode of the EHSI is the FMS Preview nav source selection (FMS 1/P or FMS 2/P) not available?
The ND Arc mode?
The active leg of the flight plan is displayed in what colour?
Magenta
The inactive (next) leg of the flight plan is displayed in what colour?
Green
How can the composite mode on the outboard IAD be manually selected?
The composite mode may be manually selected on the outboard display by pressing the PFD key on the PCP.
In the event the inboard display is in composite mode (due to failure of the outboard display), it is possible to
revert to normal MFD functionality by pressing the PFD button on the PCP.
However, this feature not possible on the side selected as in-command on the Autopilot Control Panel (APCP).
How many messages can be displayed in the WCA window?
Up to 12 messages can be displayed in this field.
When the number of messages exceeds this an indication of additional messages will be present in the lower right portion of the message field
This will indicate the number of messages out of view above and below the currently visible list.
The scroll wheel on the CCD is used to scroll the current visible range.
However, warning messages will not scroll out of view.
