A

this was after Charles escaped he arranged a secret agreement with the Scottish covenanters. And Charles agreed to establish Presbyterianism for 3 years in return for the Scots to help invade England against parliament and restore him to power.

A

What happened in the Whitehall debates ?

A

the levellers wanted to their document to form part of the constitution for a post-regicide regime. However disagreement occurred between the levellers and the NMA and they both drew different versions which were different from each other. This eventually led to their end.

What were the diggers ?

A

another social and political group which emerged from the consequences of the Civil Wars, and they gained prominence in 1649 through Gerrard Winstanley. They believed in true social and political equality. THey had minimal influence as they were only sprearheaded by one political figure.
