It showed the men that they were responsible for taking the job and helpful

they brought attention to the cause through non-violent tactics such as campaigning to government

They made it a serious issue, one the government could not ignore; a women getting arrested for her cause was news. It showed how important the vote to her

As men were fighting, women were called upon to help. Women across the country were central to the war effort
