Why is the Circulatory System important?
The circulatory system is important because it is responsible for the flow of blood throughout the body
What are the functions of the Circulatory System?
It moves oxygen around the body, moves carbon dioxide and other waste products out of the body, and moves nutrients and water to the cells in the body
What are the main parts of the Circulatory System?
The heart, the blood and the blood vessels
What is the main organ of the Circulatory System?
The heart is the main organ of the Circulatory System
What special muscle is the heart made out of?
The heart is made out of of a special kind of muscle called cardiac muscle
How big is the size of your heart?
When you clench your fist, that’s about how big the size of your heart is
Where is your heart located?
Your heart is located a little to the left of the middle of your chest
How many chambers is the heart divided into? What is the upper part called and what is the lower part called?
The heart is divided into four chambers. The upper parts is called the atrium, there is a right atrium and a left atrium. The lower part is called the ventricle, there is a right ventricle and a left ventricle.
What does the blood do?
The blood transports nutrients, removes waste materials like carbon dioxide, and acts as the bodies main defense against infections and diseases
how many parts is the blood made up of and what are those parts?
The blood is made up of four parts : red blood cells, white, blood cells, platelets, and plasma
What are the functions of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma?
The red blood cells carry oxygen. The white blood cells fight of germs and protect the body from infections and disease diseases. The platelets help to stop bleeding when there is a wound. Plasma transports nutrients, carbon dioxide, and other waste products.
What do the blood vessels do? What are the three main kinds of blood vessels?
The blood vessels transport blood throughout the body. There are three main kinds of blood vessels, and they are the arteries, veins and the capillaries.
