  • It is not entered into lightly and is taken very seriously by politicians.
  • DRiven by a genuine desire to improve and adapt the constitution
  • Politicians wouldn’t just place what they would adapt on their manifesto just for a win.

What were the New Labour (1997) Motivation.

  1. Democratisation - by removing undemocratic institutions and processes e.g House of Lords reform.
  2. Decentralisation - Dispersing power and allowing the uk region to govern their regions.
  3. Stronger protection of rights - e.g adoption of ECHR in Uk law.
  4. Modernisation - removing outdated processes.
