Q

Pole Star

A

Also Known as North Star, it indicates North direction. It always remains in same position in night sky, we can locate it with help of the Saptarishi. Am imaginary line joining pointers stars (Saptarishi) when extended further meets Pole Star.

16
Q

Earth

A

Third closest planet to Sun, it is slightly flattened at poles. Its shape is described as Geoid.

17
Q

Shape of Earth

A

Oblate spheroids. Flattened at poles, bulge at equator.

18
Q

How many days Moon take to complete one revolution around Sun.

19
Q

Moon

A

Closest celestial body to earth, it’s diameter is 0.25 times that of Earth. Moon have similar features like Earth for example Mountains, plains and depressions.

20
Q

Asteroids

A

Numerous tiny bodies which moves around the sun in our solar system, known as Asteroids.

Found between orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

Scientists believe Asteroids are remain of a planetary collision which happened many years ago.

21
Q

Meteoroids

A

Small piece of rocks, moves around Sun just like Asteroids.

Sometimes Meteoroids come near Earth and in some cases enters atmosphere of the Earth.

In most cases they’ll burned up due to extreme friction but in rare cases they’ll reach surface and will form hollow on the surface.

Famous example being Meteoroid which was responsible for taking away 90% lives from Earth 65 million years ago.

22
Q

Asteroids vs Meteoroids

A

(Asteroids)Smaller than planet but much bigger than Meteoroids

23
Q

Galaxy

A

Huge system of billions of stars, and clouds of dust and gases.

There are millions of such galaxies with makes the Universe.

Our Solar System is part of Milky Way Galaxy. It appears like Milky white glowing path in a clear night.

It’s difficult imagining how big our Universe is.
