Why was the enabling act put in place?
To give Adolf Hitler and the Nazi government full power to make laws without the Reichstag.
Why did it help deal with the crisis after the Reichstag fire?
Helped Hitler get legal control to restore order.
What did it state? (3)
- Only Hitler can pass new laws
- He does not need parliaments permission to act.
- He can use this new power for four years.
Why was it good that only Hitler can pass new laws?
Make laws in his favour
Why was it good that he doesn’t need parliament permission to act?
Parliament and other parties can’t stop him
Why was it good that he can use this new power for four years?
Enough time to take total control.
How could Trade unions stop him?
Unions protected workers rights and often went on strike and Hitler didn’t want that effecting his government
What did Nazi’s do in 1933 to trade unions?
Nazis smashed up trade union offices and banned them.
How could political parties stop Hitler?
They could be Hitlers opposition
What did SA do to policial parties?
Smashed socialist and communist offices. And in July, he banned all of the parties with the law against the establishment of parties.
