Early reviews were mixed as Lucy Mangan of The Guardian wondered ‘if competitive baking is a contradiction in terms’. Others say the presenters are annoying and Paul is too sinister. However, recent views have been more positive.

Inspires people to bake from any age or apply for show and it is entertaining and there is sense of humour and endless innuendos from the presenters and some of the contestants but definitely not NORMAN the boring Scotsman!
