He is upper-middle class, and his family made money from his Grandfather’s Wholesale Hardware Business.
When nick returns from WWI, why does he decide to go east?
To learn the bond business.
How is the west egg different from the east egg?
The East Egg is home to Old Money and represents established wealth and social status and the West Egg is home to New Money (the newly wealthy)
Before meeting him, what does Nick tell us about Tom Buchanan?

At the end of this chapter, Nick sees Gatsby on the lawn and decides to call out to him and introduce himself, but he doesn’t. What stops Nick? What does Gatsby’s trembling suggest?
Nick is topped when he sees Gatsby hold out his arms towards the water. The trembling suggests that something traumatic has occured.
