The Hip Flashcards
(8 cards)
hamstring injuries typically occur in __ phase of gait due to ….
terminal swing due to ecc conc of hamstrings/insufficient strength/activation of glut max
THR therex
Ankle pumps, QS, GS, balance training, SLR, gait training, heel slides NOT>90 isometrics esp hip ABd ONLY if no trochanteric osteotomy
hamstring injuries progression of tx
- RICE 2. multiangle isometrics, conc strengthening, CV cond. 3. ecc strengthening of glut max, stretching hams, 4. return to running 5. return to competition
PREDISPOSING factors to hamstrings injury
hams tight, insuff. strength/act of glut max, tight hip flexors
typical MOI for labral tear (3 possibilities)
hyperext w ER (ant dislocation), excessive rotation, or repetitive microtrauma due to pivoting
with a labral tear, what WBing activities provoke pain?
forced IR
if pt. has (+) impingement sign (flex/add/IR pain), suspicious of ___ & want to do ___ strengthening
FAI – glut med/max strengthening, education for proper positioning to DECR hip FLEXION
If your pt has ITB frxn, want to strengthen..
glut med/max, gastroc/soleus (prevent pronation), hamstrings (looking to prevent excessive IR of tibia/femur, valgus stress, pronation); progress from OKC conc –> CKC ecc & stretch ITB 3x/d for 30 sec + foam roll
