Photoreceptors - Rods and Cones
-Cones allow for sharp colour vision in bright light
-Rods allow for grey and blurry vision in dim light

State the functions f the Sclera, Choroid and Retina (the wall of the eye)

1. Sclera: Tough white outer layer that protects the eyeball against mechanical injury
2. Choroid: Contains blood vessels that supplies the retina with oxygen and nutrients, pigmented black to prevent internal reflection of light
3. Retina: Contains photoreceptors which detect stimuli

State the functions of the Lens, Suspensory Ligament and Ciliary Body

Answer 3

1. Lens: Focuses light rays onto the retina by changing shape
2. Suspensory Ligament: Holds the lens in position by attaching the lens to the ciliary body
3. Ciliary Body: Contains muscles which control the curvature of the lens
