The Human Eye W4 Flashcards
(8 cards)
What are the two types of photoreceptors in the retina?
Rods (see intensity, low light) and Cones (see color, need more light).
How many rods and cones are in the human eye?
~120 million rods, ~6 million cones.
What is the function of the fovea?
It is the center of vision with a high concentration of cones for detailed color vision.
What determines whether you see through a one-way mirror?
The side that is more brightly lit appears reflective; the darker side sees through.
Why do red + green lights look yellow to us?
Because they produce the same cone response as real yellow light (perceptive yellow).
What is RGB technology?
A method to simulate colors by varying red, green, and blue light levels to mimic the response of the eye’s cones.
How many bytes are used to store the color of one pixel in RGB?
3 bytes (1 byte per color channel).
How is a color number calculated in memory?
Color = R * 256^2 + G * 256 + B.
