Since she was chosen to be the Mother of Jesus, Catholics believed that she was prepared in a special way. Jesus would take Mary’s human nature from her when she was born and hence God had to make Mary’s human nature perfect.

Jesus did not have a biological human father and The Holy Spirit began the baby growing inside Mary. The baby was God-made-man, making Mary the Mother of God.

Since Mary agreed to God’s request to give birth to Jesus even when she was not too sure what was going on, she shows humans how to say yes to God and to trust him.
