What is the chemical digestion of the mouth?
A
Enzymes in the salivary glands— amylase enzyme in your saliva break down starch, a complex carbohydrate into a sugar called maltose.

What is the second type of enzyme
A
Maltose: breaks down maltose into glucose, which is small enough to be absorbed into the blood.

What does physical digestion allow?
A
It allows for greater surface area for the enzyme to act on, also means that the food is easier to swallow.
