What four muscles make up the quadriceps?
Rectus femoris, vastus intermedius, vastus lateralis and vastus medialis
What three muscles make up the hamstring?
Biceps femoris, semitendinosus and semimembranosus
How are muscles attached to the bones?
Through the tendons
What three things are the muscles in the body needed for?
Movement, support and stability
What is the origin?
The point of attachment that remains relatively fixed during muscular contraction
What is the insertion?
The point of attachment that tends to move towards the origin during muscular contraction
What is an agonist muscle?
The muscle that is directly responsible for the movement at a joint
What is an antagonist muscle?
The muscle that is opposite to the muscle that is working and the muscle isn’t working
